This two day training is for those who work with or would like to work wit the LGBTQIA2S+ community. Common health and mental health stressors and disparities will be reviewed. Performance enhancement, expansion and compulsive behavior Brainspotting setups will be taught to address religious trauma, coming out trauma, compulsive behaviors and the effects of misgendering. Those who have completed Brainspotting Phase 1 may attend.

About the Trainers

:Cindy “CJ” Smith LCSW, ACC is a psychotherapist in private practice in Boulder, Colorado. She identifies as queer and genderfluid and uses the pronouns CJ/she/her. She has worked in various mental health settings and private practice since 1985. Cindy specializes in working with LGBTQIA2S+ clients and their families as well as those dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, intergenerational trauma, traumatic brain injury symptoms and performance enhancement.

Cindy began her Brainspotting training in 2008 and has been a certified Brainspotting consultant for more than a decade. Cindy developed a Brainspotting setup designed to titrate activation along the x axis called the “Bullseye Setup” that was presented at the 2021 International Brainspotting Conference in Denver, Colorado. She also co-owns the music company Bodhitree Bilateral which she developed in 2013.

Pie Frey, PsyD, is the Senior Brainspotter,  a psychotherapist in private practice in Boulder, Colorado, and the founder of Rocky Mountain Brainspotting Institute. She has worked closely with Dr. David Grand, the developer of Brainspotting, and has worked in mental health settings, adolescent treatment programs, and private practice since 1982. Dr. Frey also has expertise in performance enhancement, mind-body issues, and spirituality. She has developed a Brainspotting protocol for relieving obsessive-compulsive symptoms.
